Dear Sarith,
My sincere apologies for not responding earlier.
My colleague Purbita or someone from her team will be best placed to speak to Canada’s private sector frameworks for AI as this is largely the lead of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
My team is the Centre for International Digital Policy, located with in the Office for Human Rights, Freedoms and Inclusion at Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I have been focusing on issues related to international human rights frameworks and AI, but I am not best placed to speak to regulations.
If there’s anything I can do to be of assistance, please let me know.
Wishing you the very best on your endeavour,
Michael Zanette

Dear Purbita and Michael,
I hope you are doing well. I’m not sure if you received my previous email (see below), but I’d be grateful if I could interview you for a case study about
AI regulation for a course at Harvard Kennedy School. If you prefer, we can also schedule a short call to provide you with more information about the project and answer any question you may have. Whatever works for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks and happy holidays!
Best,
Sarith

Subject: Case study about AI regulation - Harvard Kennedy School
Dear Purbita and Michael,
I hope you are doing well. My name is Sarith Felber and I’m a research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, working with Prof. Mark Fagan on a case study
about the regulation of AI. I would greatly appreciate it if you would agree to talk with us about the Canadian AI bill.
I had the opportunity to
attend the meeting where the Canadian AI bill was presented to the Israeli Ministry of Justice. The talk was fascinating, and I was hoping we could further discuss the process that led to the bill.
The case study will draw on international experience and will focus on the steps and considerations involved in the process of launching a regulatory plan: identifying the right timing, deciding which agency will lead
it, how to manage public engagement, scope of the regulation, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Sarith
