Dear SMIS users,

We have started to implement a central login access "Single Sign-On" at the ESRF, to allow you to access several applications you usually use with one set of login credentials and a single log-in action. The concerned applications include : SMIS User Portal, Events application for events registration and ICAT for your experiment metadata and raw data access, among others. The list will grow with time and you can find more information about this process here.

Up until now, you used your User Portal account name to log-in to the User Portal. As from June 15 2020, you must use your ESRF username. It is a unique name which identifies your User Portal account and, for non-ESRF staff, is not your family name. You will be guided through this change upon your first log-in with your current login details (ESRF, CRG staff or long term visitors: your ESRF username is your site account login). Don't create a new SMIS account - you will lose access to all information concerning your previous and current proposals and experiments!

We invite you to create your ESRF username now through the SMIS User Portal interface and not to wait for your next experiment or next proposal submission - this will allow us to help you and avoid unnecessary stress if you encounter a problem. The SMIS User Portal interface explains this step and answers some basic questions you may have. However don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Best wishes,

The ESRF User Office
