Dear EVT1904351 Participants,

With just a couple of days left before the start of the training workshop, I thought I would provide you with one final update. You will find the last version of the agenda attached – there are no significant changes compared to the version which was already sent out last week.

Registration to the different sessions

You will need to register for the different sessions of the training workshop through the WebEx platform by following this link:

After selecting the sessions that you will attend, click the Registration button which will take you to a page where you need to fill out name and e-mail address. After doing so, click Submit to complete the registration process. You should then automatically receive the corresponding WebEx links to the specified e-mail address. Please make sure to complete this registration well in time before the first session, if you have not yet done so.

Shared file area

We will be using OneDrive to share the files from the training workshop. The link to access the OneDrive shared file area is:

Access to this shared file area is linked to the e-mail address that you provided with your registration form for the training workshop. If you are experiencing any issues with your access to the OneDrive file area, please send an e-mail to my colleague Mr Alexander Trinkl: A.Trinkl@iaea.org. More files will be added to the OneDrive over the weekend as well as during the workshop itself.

Exercises and use of software

During yesterday’s test sessions there were several questions related to the exercises and possible need for special software, so I would like to repeat my answers regarding this to everyone:

There are a few optional exercises related to some of the topics that will be presented during the training workshop. The exercises range from rather simple calculations, that can be done using a normal calculator or spreadsheet software, to complete spectrum analysis with application of all necessary corrections etc. The only software that we will specifically be introducing during the training workshop is the EFFTRAN software (www.efftran.com) developed and kindly provided free of charge by Tim Vidmar. The latest versions of EFFTRAN and MEFFTRAN (for Marinelli beakers) are already available for direct download on the OneDrive.

For the spectrum analysis exercise, which will be presented together with advanced topic #7 on Thursday, all spectrum files will be provided in several file formats so that they can be analysed using any analysis software of your choice. The solutions to this exercise will be posted on the OneDrive approximately one week after the end of the workshop, which should hopefully be enough time to give everyone who wishes to attempt it a chance to do so.

The exercises are not mandatory to do, but for your own benefit and understanding it is still recommended that you give them a try.

Questions, comments or concerns?

Please feel free to get in touch with us by e-mail and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.

I wish you a very nice weekend, and look forward to “see” many of you live on Monday!

With my best regards on behalf of the EVT1904351 Organizing Team,

Alexander (Scientific Secretary)
