Dear authors,

The handling Editor asked for some additional comments to be passed to you to aid in the Revision of your submission.

Microvoids in Electrochemically Hydrogenated Titanium-Based Alloys

The work concerns studies of the transformations caused by electrochemical

charging by hydrogen of titanium and its alloy.

Unfortunately, the manuscript demonstrates a striking deficit of basic competence

of the authors in the area of hydrogen in metals. It is well known, but not to the authors,

that hydrogenation of titanium causes a significant volume expansion. For TiH2 this is appr. 25 %.

Expansion, not contraction as totally erroneously claimed in the paper.

Thus, the data is not suitable for publication.

Some additional comments:

Hydrogen content in two studied materials should be determined experimentally,

as it seems to be very different. This is not done and must be done.

XRD data should be processed using Rietveld refinements. This will give a quantitative conclusion

on the phase-structural composition and abundance of the phases.

Phase-structural transformations in Ti-H system are described in a recent paper published in IJHE

doi.org/10.1016/j.ijhydene.2019.07.198 and references therein.

Finally, one recommendation to the authors. You will benefit from consulting a metal hydride expert

to help you in addressing the drawbacks of your contribution. Prof. Moshe Mintz from your home institution

Nuclear Research Center Negev (NRCN) (now retired but possibly available), would be an excellent choice.

Kind regards,
